ARC Review: Lucky to be Yours by Shannon O’Connor

A curvy pink haired goddess, a womanizer & one unforgettable St. Patrick’s Day.

The last thing Ellie was looking for was a relationship. She was only twenty-four, why did everyone her age suddenly feel inclined to settle down? These were our twenties for crying out loud. So when she goes out on St. Patrick’s day, she fully intends to find a girl, bring her home and never call her again.

Enter Reese Williams, the eternal womanizer known for having a good time in bar bathrooms and not calling the next day. When she tempts a certain pink haired babe on St. Patrick’s day, she expects her to be as obsessed as the rest of them. But when she leaves without asking for her phone number, she can’t help but think about her. So when they continue to run into each other all day, is this fate intervening or the luck of the Irish?

Will Ellie finally settle down and call Reese back, or will their lucky night be just that?

My thoughts

Shannon O’Connor delivers a low-angst holiday romance with plenty of steam.

Lucky To Be Yours is all heat and I so needed this romance. Ellie and Reese meet with the same intentions. Then they move on…well, if only fate would let them (chuckle). I mean this in a totally good way too as each time they meet some kind of action follows (wink).

Ellie and Reese are on different paths when they first meet and O’Connor lets time go by and allows them to grow into a place where they are mentally healthy for a relationship. I love this process. Both characters go into therapy (separately) to better themselves. They try new things and stretch their wings independently.

It is only when they meet again that they realize that there might be more than a quickie involved for each of them. They consciously decide to take a chance on each other. Most of the story is low-angst. There is a moment or two where things get deep, but it only enhances the outcome.

O’Connor once again nails a holiday romance (remember the last one made my Best of the Year list). I think this series should become a staple because it definitely gets me ready for the holidays.

I received an ARC of this book and I am writing a review without prejudice and voluntarily.
